FORGOT YOUR DETAILS?

Veronica Rome, Italy

"Hello, everyone! I’m Veronica. I’m from Rome, Italy. I always knew that I would study in the United States, because it is the best place to learn the English language. My father works for the United Nations, and his colleague spoke highly of this school. So, my father and I decided that I would come here.I am living in Greensboro with my father’s wife. My experience in Greensboro has been pleasant. The school is very friendly and warm and now feels like a second family. I am fortunate enough to have two wonderful teachers. I only have a short time left because I have to return to my country. But if I am able, I will come back to finish the rest of the levels. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is able to come to ALA to have this important experience, to learn the life, culture and language of the United States."

Yi Dai Chongqing, China

"Hi! My name is Yi Dai, but you also can call me Daisy. I’m from Chongqing, China. I have been with ALA for half a year. In ALA, I have had many opportunities to practice English skills, and also to meet more new friends from different countries. I have lived in Greensboro for almost three years…People are friendly here. They smile at you on the street, and they are willing to help other people."

Yi Dai Chongqing, China

“I am a foreign student with a multicultural perspective in education. I’m in the second year of my Ph.D. program in Educational Leadership at the University of Arizona in Tucson… I moved to the USA to start my American educational experience; first studying English language at American Language Academy, which has indeed added a lot to my professional literacy skills. I had never been exposed to English language to such extent previously. This is because I have grown up in a family where Arabic language has been given first priority and I was never exposed to the English language on such an academic level before. Throughout my learning experience at American Language Academy, I learned the English language from scratch, speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I worked on different writing styles like narrative writing, rhetoric analysis of papers, and argumentative and persuasive styles of writing. These are some of the examples of works that I learned and excelled at in my overall learning experience at American Language Academy.” -Amani Albarkati

“Hi, my name is Duy Nguyen. I am an international student from Vietnam. I had been here for 6 months. After graduating, I go to the college. I realized that ALA is the best place for any international student who want to built English skills before going to the college. Because of the time in ALA, I adapted easily to the environment of college. Every skills I had studied in ALA are so helpful in the college like research skills, team work skills or presentation skills. Moreover, all staffs in ALA are really nice. They help every international student have enough skills and knowledges to study confidently in the college.”

Abiff Lopez Chavez, Mexico

"Hello everybody, I am Arturo Abiff Lopez Chavez. I am from Mexico City, Mexico. It has been a great experience to study at the American Language Academy. ALA has well-organized, intensive classes, including reading, writing, and communication skills. ALA truly provides useful and excellent methods to help students sharpen their English skills. ALA also has outstanding and very professional teachers. They concentrate on their students´ individual needs and help us improve our speaking, listening, reading, and writing. They create an open, friendly, and supportive atmosphere in class among students from different parts of the world. In addition, I like the atmosphere of ALA at Guilford College. People are so friendly, and I feel free to talk with native English speakers at any time."

Rosa Delia Guerrero, MeXico

"My name is Rosa Delia Guerrero and I come from Aguas Calientes, Mexico. I have been living in the United States for 4 years. While working as a data entry clerk, I took all the levels of English instruction at the local community college. But I really want to go to college, so I decided to come to the American Language Academy for its academic preparation. I have to commute 40 minutes one way to the Academy from my home in Eden, North Carolina. I’ve learned a lot here; some things we studied were punctuation, grammar, paraphrasing, research papers with proper citation and plagiarism. My favorite class was Listening and Speaking. When I finish here, I want to go to Guilford Technical Community College or Guilford College to study business or health care administration. I want to help people and help the Latino community in North Carolina."

Nataliya Vyacheslavovna Kotting, Russia

"I wanted to study English because I need to communicate better so I can improve myself. It will help me be more independent. I found ALA on the Internet when I was researching schools for English. I really like the intensive program. I had experience with another school and ALA is the best school. I see a big difference; ALA is more individual and academic. Our teachers are very good because they give good explanations and they care about every student. I like our new classrooms, too, because they’re new and bright and have big windows. Also, the location is very good, very central in Greensboro.I like feng shui, sewing, cooking and making jewelry based on zodiac signs. After studying English, I want to go to beauty school and become a hairstylist. "
