ALA administrators and staff are comprised of dedicated professionals who come from a variety of diverse, international, and educational backgrounds. Our team of administrators and staff have experience in English language instruction, Program Development, Business Management, Recruiting, Administrative, and Student Services fields which enable them to serve students, our partners, and the greater ALA community.

Our Leadership Team focuses on business and program development and ensures that ALA courses provide the highest quality content using the most up-to-date innovations in language teaching methodology on campus and online. Our committed staff strive to deliver quality assistance and support to all prospective, new, and current students.

ALA staff members care about the success of each individual student at ALA inside and outside the classroom and are dedicated to providing the best support and experience for all students throughout their stay at ALA.

Dr. Sidney D. Wheatley

Advisor

Dr. Wheatley serves as a mentor providing Christ-like leadership, preaching, and teaching the kingdom of God for service to the local and international church. He began pastoring in 1988 in Williamsport, Pa, planted a church in York, Pa, and on the North Carolina A & T campus in 2005. After six successful years of ministry at this campus, Bishop and his wife sensed that God wanted them to move forward towards a new direction. Bishop Wheatley has dedicated his life to counseling, teaching, and preaching throughout the United States, West Indies, and Africa. Bishop received several degrees toward fulfilling the purpose that God ordained for his life. His early beginning commenced with an Associate degree from Penn State University in Letters, Arts, and Sciences in 1990, followed by a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies from Trinity Bible College (2003), a Master of Arts in Pastoral Leadership from Carolina Evangelical Divinity School, Magna Cum Laude (2008), and a Master of Divinity from Carolina Evangelical Divinity School, Cum Laude (2011). Recently, he matriculated at Indiana Wesleyan University, Indiana and graduated in 2021 with a Doctorate in Transformational Leadership. Dr. Wheatley currently serves at Christ Wesleyan Church, Greensboro, as one of the Teaching/Discipleship Team leaders.

Theresa Robertson, Ph.D

Advisor

Dr. Robertson has worked in the capacity of program evaluator, researcher, educator, justice advocate, and a licensed psychotherapist. Her early career was devoted to evaluating the effectiveness of a variety of programs designed to promote health and human services. In the education arena. Dr. Robertson has served as adjunct faculty in psychology and counseling courses to masters’ level graduate students. Her past research interests were focused on the exploration of the role of spirituality in promoting mental health and assessing treatment modalities. Dr. Robertson is the recipient of several research awards, including the Loyola University Kolvenbach Research Grant in 2017, the National Board of Certified Counselors Doctoral Minority Fellowship Research Award in 2017, and the Dr. Joseph Ciarrocchi Research Award in 2019. Her research results have been presented at both national and international conferences. In addition, Dr. Robertson maintains a private psychotherapy practice and serves as co-director of a psychedelic-assisted therapy program for a multi-site mental health company in Maryland. In 2023 Dr. Robertson received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the national organization for her work in establishing this state-wide affiliate.
